PROJECT OVERVIEW

Rio Tinto Alcan awarded RIX Asset Maintenance the contract to remove cladding and insulation from inaccessible kilns at the Alumina Refinery, Northern Territories.

Scaffolding and cranes were not able to be utilised due to cost and safety constraints and therefore the decision was made to implement IRATA Rope Access solutions.

SOLUTION

RAM supplied IRATA tradespeople to undertake NATA endorsed non destructive testing & weld repairs as well as rigging and rope access technicians to remove all cladding and insulation. Full PPE (including respirators) were required as well as advanced, innovative rope access systems.

The project was carried out in temperatures in excess of 35 degrees and was delivered ahead of schedule with commendations from the client on RAM Safety Performance.
